Orthodontics

Orthodontics is a specialized branch of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention, and correction of improper tooth positioning and incorrect relationship between the upper and lower jaw. Most patients seek orthodontic treatment because they want to improve the appearance of their teeth and smile, as they are aware that facial aesthetics are important in all aspects of life.

Beautiful teeth significantly contribute to boosting self-confidence. However, it should be noted that proper tooth and jaw alignment is not only aesthetically important, but also has a positive effect on the health of the entire dental system. Properly positioned teeth are easier to clean, reducing the possibility of caries and periodontal disease.

At the Dental-aesthetic clinic dr Macura, within the framework of orthodontic services, you have at your disposal fixed devices for bonding, self-ligating or aesthetic devices, as well as mobile devices.

Ligating fixed orthodontic appliances

Ligating fixed orthodontic appliances are devices in which the wire is attached to the bracket with metal or rubber ligatures. Rubber ligatures can be in different colors.

Self-ligating fixed orthodontic appliances

Self-ligating fixed orthodontic appliances are devices in which the wire does not need to be tied to the bracket with special ligatures, as the brackets already have a built-in mechanism (“doors”) to hold the wire in place. Therefore, the resistance is lower, and milder forces are required for effective therapy.

Mobile orthodontic appliances

Mobile appliances can be for one or both jaws, but they all have in common that patients can put them on and take them out of the oral cavity by themselves. The mobile orthodontic appliance is extremely effective because we can use it to align jaws and teeth, and usually prescribe it in the first phase of orthodontic therapy until the permanent teeth erupt, after which we continue the therapy with a fixed orthodontic appliance. It should be emphasized that the success of the therapy depends on the patient’s discipline in following instructions and wearing the appliance regularly.
